FAIRFIELD
UNIVERSITY TEAMS UP WITH BRIDGEPORT
PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO ACKNOWLEDGE BRIDGEPORT’S BRIGHTEST
SCHOLARS
January
7, 2011 - Bridgeport, Conn. – Bridgeport Public Schools in conjunction with
Fairfield University will reward city scholars for their
academic performance in the Connecticut Mastery Test (CMT) and Connecticut
Academic Performance Test (CAPT) with the Bridgeport’s Brightest Program. The event will
mark the second straight year that Fairfield University and Bridgeport Public
Schools will team up to honor the city’s outstanding
students.
The
Bridgeport’s Brightest Program is a partnership
between the Bridgeport Board of Education and Fairfield University. The program is an effort to
encourage and reward high achievement in the two state tests as well as overall
academic achievement by the individual schools. The intent of the program is to
recognize the approximately 1,500 Bridgeport public school students who are CMT
and CAPT scholars.
These
scholars, who range from elementary to high school age, will be honored during
the Fairfield University-Saint Peter’s men’s basketball game on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Arena Harbor Yard. The individual
school that had the greatest percentage of increase in overall CMT scores will
be honored.
All CMT and CAPT scholars can pick up tickets at the Fairfield University’s will call window as the Arena
at Harbor Yard. All family members of CMT and CAPT scholars will also receive
free admission for the game.
