Thank you so much to
everyone who supported Warren Harding High School’s Habitat
for Humanity trip to Georgetown County, South Carolina over
the spring break.
Eleven students and
2 teachers volunteered their spring break helping out four
families in Georgetown, SC. Throughout the week, the
group painted the inside of a home, insulated another home,
landscaped the yard including creating flower beds for the
front of the new houses, and built lasting
relationships. It was a great week for everyone
involved. The group had nightly team meetings where they
discussed the issues of poverty and had time for personal
reflections. They were all welcomed into the community
of Georgetown warmly and openly.
Junior Penord Beason
(pictured painting the walls) remarked, “I enjoyed working
with others knowing that what I was doing down there was going
to make a difference in South Carolina.”
Senior Katiria Vilar
said, "It was a learning experience. I'm glad that
I got the opportunity to meet and work with Shanieka and
Bridget (our homeowners) and make a difference in their
lives."
