----------------------------------------- JP MORGAN CHASE & UNITED WAY BRING RESOURCES AND HOPE TO WEBSTER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Chase executives recently visited Webster Elementary School to experience first-hand the educational enhancements students are receiving as part of the United Way of Eastern Fairfield County Schools of Hope program.
Chase executives & members of the United Way make check presentation at Webster Elementary School.
Over the past two years, the JPMorgan Chase Foundation has provided grants totaling $275,000 to support programs of the United Way of Eastern Fairfield County and helped launch the Schools of Hope initiative last year.
"We have learned from our work in urban school districts around the country that access to highly effective teachers can improve educational outcomes," said Sam Tingley, Chase senior vice president and member of United Way's board of directors. "We also observed that great teachers flourish in an environment where school leadership embraces new and exciting approaches to teaching and learning. Marlene Roberts, the principal at Webster School, clearly fosters an environment that empowers teachers and classroom volunteers to provide a learning environment where students feel appreciated, valued and secure. We are delighted to be a part of the United Way Schools of Hope."
Students of Webster School show their appreciation to JPMorgan Chase & The United Way.
Currently, there are three United Way Schools of Hope: Webster School in Bridgeport, Franklin School in Stratford and McKinley School in Fairfield. The program varies at each school depending on the needs of the students and teachers.

SAT COORDINATORS RECEIVE SPECIAL
GIFT
James Shannon, Beryl Kaufman & John Di Donato during presentation of Intervention Manuals.
Earlier this month, during the Student Assistance Team Coordinators (SAT) meeting in the Blackham School Library, Beryl Kaufman, executive director of the Connecticut Association of Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities, made a special presentation of manuals which describe interventions for learning disabled youngsters. James Shannon, director of pupil services and John DiDonato, assistant superintendent of youth development were on hand to receive the manuals and personally thank Kaufman for her support of Bridgeport Schools.
The cost of the manuals were graciously underwritten by Westport resident Mr. Harold Levine. Levine is a long time supporter of Bridgeport Public Schools and the chairman of the board of directors for Music and Arts Center for Humanity or MACH, located in Bridgeport.
The manuals donated are a valuable tool for SAT Coordinators.
