Michael J. Testani
Superintendent of Schools
Michael Testani is the Superintendent of Bridgeport Public Schools, a position he was appointed to effective August 1, 2019. A Bridgeport native, Mr. Testani is a career educator and administrator in both the Norwalk and Bridgeport Public Schools. Over the past 25-plus years, he has held positions as a School Counselor and Administrator at the elementary, middle and high school levels. He has also worked as a Central Office administrator for the Bridgeport Public Schools. His work has encompassed working to improve both the academic and social emotional growth and development of all students. Some of his work includes the establishment of high school alternative programs and summer transition programs. He has also headed the high school summer school in Bridgeport for 12 years. Mr. Testani has also served as the Director of Adult and Continuing Education in Bridgeport. In addition, he has assumed many additional responsibilities including overseeing the district’s athletics programs, the education program at the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center, school safety and security and district community engagement liaison.
Mr. Testani holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education / School Counseling from the University of Bridgeport. He also holds a Sixth Year Degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University and completed his Advanced Superintendent Certificate from Central Connecticut State University with a 4.0 GPA. Mr. Testani currently holds Connecticut State Education Department (CSED) Certifications in School Counseling (068), as well as in Administration and Supervision (092) and School District Superintendent Certification (093).
