  • Dear Volunteers,

We apologize for the abrupt ending of your volunteer service in March due to COVID-19. As you may know, on-site school has been cancelled for the remainder of the school year. We will provide updates on this website about opportunities to re-engage with the students as we learn about BOE plans for their return to the school buildings. In the meantime, please feel free to leave a message on the office phone if you have questions. Joyce Goodwin and I are in the office periodically and will return your calls.

Thank you again for all you have done and plan to do with the students upon their return.

    Anne Gribbon
    Executive Director

The 2020 Travelers Champions Golf Tournament will take place from June 25-28 at the TPC River Highlands as a TV only event.  Birdies for Charity has long been a part of this event with nonprofits receiving a 15% bonus on top of every donation collected.

Please click on the BUTTON below and help us reach our goal.  Your donation will help SVA as we partner with the Bridgeport public schools to re-engage students in their learning and support their social/emotional health when they return to school.

MISSION: The mission of the School Volunteer Association of Bridgeport, Inc. is to enrich and support the learning of Bridgeport’s public school students through the involvement of volunteers from Bridgeport and surrounding communities.

WHAT WE DO: The School Volunteer Association of Bridgeport, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides volunteer services to the students of the Bridgeport Public Schools.  The organization recruits, trains and places volunteers and also raises funds to support programs for city students.

The School Volunteer Association sponsors an annual, citywide
Read Aloud Day each fall during which over 600 volunteers are recruited to read enjoyable children’s books to every pre-kindergarten through sixth grade class in the Bridgeport Public Schools. Many of these participants join us as ongoing volunteers reading books to classes and tutoring or mentoring individual students throughout the remainder of the school year.
