Mr. Oestreicher
Dr. Oestreicher received his doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) from Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) in September 2019. His doctoral dissertation was on The Effect of a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Course on The Problem-Solving Skills (A 21st Century Skill) of High School Students. Dr. Oestreicher also received his 092, the Intermediate Administrator Certification, from SCSU in 2017.
Dr. Oestreicher received his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Connecticut (UConn), a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Connecticut, and a Master of Education in Secondary Science Education (MS Ed.) from the University of Bridgeport (UB).
Dr. Oestreicher is also a Lieutenant Colonel with the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) and has been a member since 1999. He has been a private pilot since 1998 and has over 200 pilot-in-command (PIC) hours. Lt Col Oestreicher flies out of both Tweed-New Haven and Sikorsky Memorial Airports. Lt Col Oestreicher became the Squadron Commander of the newly formed Bridgeport Military Academy (BMA) Cadet Squadron, the CT-803, during the Fall of 2019. Lt Col Oestreicher was the Commander of the Stratford Eagles squadron for six years and has held multiple positions within the CAP at local, state, national, and international levels. Lt Col Oestreicher has served on several military bases including Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL; and as an ambassador to the Royal Australian Air Force (2007), the Czech Republic (2012), and the Royal Netherlands Air Force (2017) as part of the International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE).
Dr. Oestreicher has been happily married to Edina Oestreicher, the former Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students at the University of Bridgeport, for twenty-nine years, and has two wonderful daughters (one who works for Blue Sky Studios (Disney) and another who is a sophomore at Drexel University studying nursing).
Dr. Oestreicher teaches or has taught Honors Chemistry, Chemistry, Forensic Science, Capstone, Physical Science, and Civil Air Patrol at the Bridgeport Military Academy and is an adjunct professor of Chemistry at several local universities.
Dr. Oestreicher is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Connecticut State Teachers Association, the National Science Teachers Association, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and the Golden Key Honor Society.
