Mrs. Simmons-D'Amico

 Mrs. Simmons-D’Amico is a Special Education teacher, SEL Leader, and Club advisor at BMA. She graduated from Myrtle Beach High School, located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. After high school, she attended South Carolina State University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre Education and Communications. She holds a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, Foundations of Reading, Special Education, and a Certification in TEFL.

She is a true thespian and loves the Theatre! She has performed all over the Northern, Southern, and Central Regions of the United States, and even in Europe! It’s clear she loves traveling. She has worked alongside several contributors to the art world to enrich the minds of students, parents, and teachers as a Theatre Educator and advocate of the arts in the city. Mrs. Simmons-D’Amico has been teaching in the city for over 17 years at all grade levels, and continues to believe in the resilience and future of Bridgeport’s students!

In 2009 she was awarded SPARK of the Year by the CEA, an award for outstanding new leadership. In 2019, she was awarded a Teacher of the Year award from the Bridgeport Public Education Fund. She was also awarded Superintendent’s Staff Recognition in 2020. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated., BEA(MAC), substitute delegate, and the NAACP. She hopes to continue to encourage students in Bridgeport to develop a love for themselves and their community, knowing that they hold the power to CHANGE THE WORLD ONE STEP AT A
