Ms. Kaitlin Pecora

Welcome to English!

My name is Ms. Pecora and I have been an English teacher at Bassick for 7 years. I grew up in Bridgeport and attended John Winthrop Elementary School before moving to Stratford in middle school. I earned my English Education degree from Southern Connecticut State University in 2014, my Masters in Education from Sacred Heart University in 2017, and I am working on completing an Education Doctoral degree from Southern Connecticut State University.

I love Bassick and bleed green! I was a student teacher at Bassick and was hired that fall to teach. I have taught journalism, English 12, and most recently English 10 and 9. It is exciting that which each class I teach, I learn so much more because of my students. There are books I have read at least a hundred times, but every year a student opens my eyes to something new.

My curriculum has elements of literature, current events, personal narratives, social justice, film, and music. My favorite stories to read are almost always in graphic novel form or as a Shakespeare play. I encourage students to read aloud and draw their own interpretations of the literature we read.

I am also going into my third year as Senior Class advisor. This includes planning senior trips, the senior t-shirt, planning prom, and running graduation. Seniors are entering the last years at Bassick and it is so important to make them as special as possible! If you are interested in joining Senior Class Council, fill out the survey on the link below.

I cannot wait to meet each and every one of you!
