Mr. Jim Gildea

Mr. Gildea is a school counselor here in Bassick, serving the student population with the last names' P-Z.  He began at Bassick as an English teacher and has been a counselor since 1998.

Mr. Gildea has a Bachelor’s degree from Southern CT State University, a Master’s of School Counseling degree from University of Bridgeport and a Sixth-Year in Educational Studies. He is a member of ASCS, NSCA and NEACAC.

Ms. Michele Maggiore

 
Students A-F
 
Michele Maggiore is a school Counselor at Bassick High School serving the student population A-F. She has been a School Counselor in Bridgeport since 2014 and I have worked at the Elementary, Middle and High School Levels. Ms Maggiore has a Bachelor's Degree from Fairfield University where she majored in Sociology and double minored in Psychology and Art History. She has a Master's Degree in School Counseling from Fairfield University as well as a Master's Degree in Administration And Supervision from Fordham University. 
 
In addition to being a certified School Counselor Grades PK-12, Ms Maggiore is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Licensed Restorative Practices Trainer. The national organizations she belongs to are: American School Counselor Association (ASCA), Connecticut School Counselor Association (CSCA), and Chi Sigma Iota.

Mrs. Karissa Shields

Students G-O

Karissa Shields is a school Counselor at Bassick High School serving the student population G-O. She has been working as a School Counselor in Bridgeport since 2015. She has worked at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. 

 
Ms. Sheilds has her Bachelors degree in Communication Science from the University of Connecticut and a Masters of School Counseling from Southern Connecticut State University.She currently holds her LPCA
and is working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She holds her NCC certification and is a member of ASCA, CSCA, NCDA, CCA, and NEACAC.
