    Dear Skane Parents & Guardians,

I am very excited to kick off the 2022-2023 school year! As a NAEYC accredited preschool program, we are excited to nurture, explore, create and support our youngest learners!  The first day of school will be Monday, August 29, 2022. The staff and I were thrilled to see your children and they were excited tostart another year of learning together. Please make sure to check our school website for the up to date information https://www.bridgeportedu.net/skane .

The City of Bridgeport Board of Education has a district-wide uniform policy.  The colors for Skane School are as follows: Pants, Skirts or Jumpers:  Dark Blue or Khaki Beige- Shirts:  White, Light Blue or Navy Blue (collar polo shirt, dress shirt, long or short sleeve) Shoes:  Shoes, white or black sneakers.

As we know, young learners at times may have accidents.  Please do not forget to send in a second change of clothes (shirt, pants, socks, and underwear), along with diapers and wipes. At times, students may have additional accidents when we have provided clothes that are at the school.  Please let your child's teacher know if you do not want them using clothes that are provided by the school.

Teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility.  To ensure the most success at Skane, we believe that you play a key role in your child’s experience. The first few weeks of school can be a challenging transition for students, so please provide a head start by helping your child get plenty of sleep and read to them daily. Please also make sure to send in a change of clothes on the first day.  Your child’s teacher will also send home a list of items needed for the school year.

Students arrive and are dismissed from classroom doors.  To ensure the safety of staff and students, we have a strict late policy.  Teachers will not open classroom doors once arrival and dismissal have ended.  If your child is late, please bring them to the Main Office and sign them in.  A staff member will bring them to their classrooms.

Please feel free to contact us with your questions or comments.  Thank you for your continued commitment to your child's education and unwavering dedication to Skane School. Everyone at Skane is committed to making our school the best possible learning environment because we truly believe in “Children First”.

    Best regards,

    Jaclyn Henry
