Dear Skane Families,
I am very excited to kick-off the school year and welcome our new and returning families and students to A.B. Skane School for the 2017-2018 school year. Each year the start of school is a busy time – and this year is no exception! We are so proud to announce that our school has received NAEYC accreditation; a true testament to the exemplary teaching staff at Skane. We will continue to make a concerted effort this year to improve our students’ attendance rates; as regular attendance at school impacts significantly on your child’s progress.
The first day of school is quickly approaching – Thursday, August 31, 2017. The staff and I are thrilled to share another year of learning together with all of our students. Please note the first day is a one session day. The schedule for a one session day is AM Preschool: 7:40 am - 9:25 am PM Preschool: 9:55 am - 11:40 am.
Teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. We want your child to be happy and successful at Skane School and believe that you play a key role. The first few
weeks of school can be a challenging transition for students, so please provide a head start by helping your child get plenty of sleep and read to them daily. Please mark your calendars to join us in our Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 5:00-6:30 PM.

The school building is ready to receive your children and I personally, look forward to having the building humming with students’ voices and teachers’ teaching all the wondrous and important learning they impart to the Skane children. Everyone at Skane is committed to making our school the best possible learning environment because we truly believe in “Children First”.
The first few days of school, your child’s teacher will send home a list of items your child will need for the school year. Please feel free to contact us with your questions or comments. Thank you for your continued commitment to your child's education and unwavering dedication to Skane School.
