It is my pleasure and privilege to welcome all of our students, staff, parents and families back to Beardsley School for the 2018-19 school year.  Our mission at Beardsley School is to provide an academically rigorous program for our students in a respectful and safe environment, which challenges them to reach their full potential.  Our goal is to support our students as we educate them to be responsible members of our culturally rich and diverse community.

I would like to remind you of our academic, behavioral and social expectations for students for the coming school year.  Students are expected to come to school in uniform daily.  Our colors are navy or white collared shirts and khaki or navy pants or skirts.  School begins promptly at 8:50 am and dismissal is at 3:10 pm.  It is an expectation for students to be on time and we will discourage early dismissals from school as it interrupts the continuity of instruction.  Homework is given nightly in each grade and is a very important component of your child’s education as it helps students review and prepare for the next day.  It also teaches them responsibility and time management.  Please make sure that you check your students’ folders each night to make sure they have completed all assignments and projects.  We encourage students to read every night for at least 10-15 minutes, both independently and with a parent.  Being a good and fluent reader is also a key to academic success!

Home/school communication is very important to us.  We send out monthly newsletters, calendars, and flyers of all school events, as well as frequent phone blasts as reminders.  It is important that we have the most updated contact information at all times.  Please notify the school if your information changes during the year.  If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your students’ teachers, or set up an appointment to meet with them.

I look forward to greeting all of you on the first day of school!  Remember, at Beardsley School, “Sí, se puede!”
