Marcie Julian has been at Blackham since 1994.  She joined the Blackham faculty as a Paraprofessional in a Special Education classroom, while going to school at night to earn her Master’s Degree in education. Upon the completion of her Master’s Degree she enrolled in Sacred Heart University to complete leadership courses and go on to receive her 092 Degree which allows one to be an administrator.

Her career always brought her back to Blackham, as a teacher, assistant principal and then fortunate to be principal.  Blackham has always been home to Ms. Julian.  She is lucky to have such a beautiful, understanding family that allows her to dedicate such time and effort to the Blackham Community.

  • Mrs. Debra Argenese Assisstant Principal

Debra L. Arganese, Blackham Assistant Principal

Upon earning my Bachelor of Arts degree in Education at Marymount College, Tarrytown, N.Y., I began my teaching career in Bridgeport, CT.   I became a Special Education ResourceTeacher at Dunbar Elementary School.  While teaching, I attended law school at night and earned my Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Quinnipiac School of Law.  I left teaching for a period of time and was employed as an Attorney in the Bridgeport area.

As I discovered teaching was my true calling and I was dedicated to teaching in Bridgeport, I returned to teaching in 1999 and taught at Central High School where I was a teacher and the Special Education Coordinator for 12 years. During this time I enjoyed working with a diverse student population, teachers and administrators. As Coordinator at Central High School I transitioned many Blackham eighth grade students into Central High School to begin their high school experience.  I followed them for 4 years and watched them graduate with their high school diplomas.  This was always such a proud moment for me and I loved participating in their graduation experience.   While at Central I pursued my goals and commitment to Bridgeport and returned to School and earned my Administrative Certificate from Sacred Heart University.

In 2012 I began working in the District Office and worked as the Out of District Facilitator for 2 years.  Subsequently, from 2014 to 2018 I was employed as a Supervisor of Specialized Instruction, an Administrator who worked with many special education students, teachers and administrators to assist in the educational success of all students.

This year I am excited to join the Blackham Team as an Assistant Principal.  As such, my goals are to work collaboratively to assist in ensuring that all children are being taught with academic rigor, increase student achievement and prepare all students to successfully move forward to High School and Post High School Studies.

In my personal life I am the Mother of two wonderful daughters who are highly supportive of my dedication to my career and strong connection to The Bridgeport Public School System.
