Michael J. Testani
Acting Superintendent of Schools
Michael Testani is the Acting Superintendent of Bridgeport Public Schools, a position he was appointed to effective August 1, 2019. A Bridgeport native, Mr. Testani is a career educator and administrator in the Bridgeport Public Schools. Over the past 20-plus years, he has held positions as a School Counselor and Administrator at the elementary, middle and high school levels. He has also worked as an administrator on special assignment for the Bridgeport Public Schools. This assignment encompassed working on several district projects including high school transformation. This work included the establishment of high school alternative programs and summer transition programs. He has also headed the high school summer school for the past 12 years. He most recently has served as the Director of Adult and Continuing Education in Bridgeport. In addition, he has assumed many additional responsibilities including overseeing the district’s athletics programs, the education program at the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center, school safety and security and district community engagement liaison.
Mr. Testani holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education / School Counseling from the University of Bridgeport. He also holds a Sixth Year Degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University. Mr. Testani currently holds Connecticut State Education Department (CSED) Certifications in School Counseling, as well as in Administration and Supervision. He is currently enrolled at Central Connecticut State University to complete the required coursework to obtain CSED Superintendent Certification, which he anticipates obtaining in mid-May.
