    Philosophy

The Bridgeport Public Schools (BPS) Early Childhood programs acknowledge and promote the concept of teaching the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. Believing that every child enters the world with the urge to learn, the goal of our programs is to guide and support children as they strive to structure and make sense of their immediate surroundings and their place within it. We understand that children’s deepest learning occurs through multiple interactions with a broad range of materials, peers, and caring adults. Therefore, our learning environments are rich with language and literacy experiences, art, music, and whole-body activities to enhance their play. Play, which is a child’s work, is the foundation of all future learning and relationships.
