Mr. Roderick

WELCOME TO THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR AT BASSICK HIGH SCHOOL!

I am Mr. Roderick and teach Physical Education grades 9-12.  I plan my lessons according to the State of Connecticut Physical Education curriculum and it is also aligned with the National Standards. One of the biggest challenges for many of the incoming freshman that will have Physical Education on their schedule this Fall, will be adjusting to having Physical Education every day.  It is a big adjustment from their K-8 experiance and requires more organization and preparedness. We try to focus on Fitness and Health on a daily basis. We aim to shape your mindset to be able to see the importance of exercise and fitness and to hopefully make it a part of your lifestyle into adulthood.

ABOUT ME, I have a Bachelors Degree from the University of Massachusetts/Lowell where I studied Criminal Justice and earned a full basketball scholarship. I have a Masters Degree from Adelphi University where I studied Physical Education and coached college basketball while studying.  Lastly, I have a 6th year in Educational Leasdership from SCSU and I am currently a certified school administrator. I am married (Carla), have a 20 year old son (Tyler) and a 16 year old daughter (Rani).  My hobbies include basketball, golf, fitness and travel. I am the Boy's Track and Field coach at BHS and would be more then happy to discuss you potentially getting involved in the program next Spring if interested. I look forward to meeting you all this Fall.
