Ms. Soares

Diana M. Soares has been the principal of Bridgeport Military Academy since March of 2015. At Bridgeport Military Academy she strives for excellence, and along with her staff, she endeavors to establish a school climate in which students, teachers, and parents to form a community of learners to maximize the educational potential of every student while exploring careers in emergency services.

Previous to the Bridgeport Military Academy appointment, she was Assistant Principal at Central High School, and before that she was at Wilbur Cross Elementary School. She began her career as a teacher with the Bridgeport School system more than 20 years ago. Also, she has worked as a History Grant Coordinator for the district in which she trained Social Studied teachers in the use of strategies to connect literacy with Social Studies. She has traveled out of state for Title 1 Conferences at which she presented workshops on incorporating laptop learning into classroom academics. Diana has been a recruiter at colleges/universities to attract graduates to teach in the district. She has proven to be capable, competent, and dedicated to the growth and development of her students in whatever capacity she serves.

Diana was born in Bridgeport. She is the middle child of June P. Soares and the late Joseph A. Soares Sr. She attended local schools, graduating from Bassick High School, before attending North Carolina A. & T. University. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Diana was awarded a Masters of Science degree in Education and a 6th Year Administration Degree from the University of Bridgeport. In 2016, she was recognized as a Prudence Crandall Award Honoree.

Diana is a member of the Bridgeport Council of Administrators and Supervisors. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, and meeting new people.
