Dr. Dan-Udekwe, Emeka

My name is Dr. Dan-Udekwe, in short, Dr. Dan.

I started teaching at Bassick High School in 2009 and have been here since. Before coming to Bassick, I taught at two middle schools in Bridgeport, Roosevelt and Watersville.

I am originally from Nigeria. I graduated from University of Nigeria, UNN, with BS Hons in Engineering with minors in Mathematics/Physics. I did my post graduate studies in Engineering and Management at The University of Dublin, Trinity College, MS, PGDipMgmt and PhD, and in England and then US, University of Bridgeport, MS Math Education. Before taking up full-time teaching, I was a practicing Civil/Mechanical Engineer, but now I am a mathematics educator. I am married, and I have a son.

My passion in mathematics is 'Modeling real-life phenomenon with mathematics', making connections and showing the beauty and relevance of mathematics in everyday situation. I really want my students to understand mathematics and be able to use it and feel its importance in everyday life and practice. Mathematics understanding pushes you to exercise effort and your mind. It is an exact science, without which there is no technology.

Be prepared to work hard for it and to apply your effort and mind. I will guide and support you to achieve your utmost.
