    Junior Academy - Gr. 7-8

    Dear Parents,

On behalf of the Junior Academy of Luis Muñoz Marin School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year.  We are looking forward to a productive partnership to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential.  We are aware that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school.  Maintaining a strong partnership with you will make a huge difference in your child’s education.   As partners we share the responsibility for our student’s success and we want you to know that we will do our very best to prepare your child to be successful in our ever-changing technological global society.  We ask that you support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

    ·         Attend school daily and arrive on time ready for the day’s learning experiences.

    ·         Read daily to develop a love for reading and improve literacy skills.

    ·         Communicate his/her school’s experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life.

    ·         Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and be career and college ready.

Please consider volunteering at the school by being an active member of the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC). We seek volunteers to help us with the following activities:

    ·         Read-Aloud

    ·         School-wide Events

    ·         School Recognition Events

    ·         Room Parents

Please see attached copies of our school’s behavior expectations, cellphone policy, and uniform policy. We ask that review these expectations and policy with your child.   It is very important that you and your child are fully informed regarding standards related to appropriate behavior to ensure a safe and productive school environment.

Please feel free to review the Bridgeport’s School District’s Code of Conduct at www.bridgeportedu.com.  You may also contact me or your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns at 203-275-4404.

Our dedicated staff at Luis Muñoz Marin School feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to nurture your child in reaching his/her highest potential.  We thank you in advance for your support.

    Judy Swenton

Assistant Principal of Junior Academy (Grades 7-8)
