Dear Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers of Bridgeport Public Schools:
We have all experienced the challenges and hardships of this week’s weather and we will continue to prioritize the health of our students and staff. To minimize the risks of excessive heat and out of an abundance of caution, Friday, September 8 will also be a one-session day (Half-day).
As a result, no afternoon preschool classes will be held. The program will be closed if you have a child in an after-school program in one of our schools. Please get in touch with your after-school provider for more information.
Please continue to have students and staff wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing. Each school is equipped with bottle filling stations, so please send students with refillable water bottles so they can always stay hydrated. All schools will allow water breaks and have a cooling plan if needed. Please note that outdoor activities will be limited to prevent excessive exposure to the heat.
Please know that if changes are made to the athletic schedule, coaches will communicate with teams regarding any changes affecting games and practices.
We appreciate your partnership, support, and flexibility, as well as your patience as we address weather-related challenges.
With gratitude,
Carmela M. Levy-David
Superintendent of Schools
