BPS Launches First-Ever Enrollment Center with CT State Housatonic

Bridgeport, CT  – Bridgeport Public Schools announces a groundbreaking partnership with CT State Housatonic to launch the district’s first-ever Central Registration Center—a new initiative designed to support families across the city by streamlining the student enrollment process and expanding access to essential resources.

Set to open before the start of the 2025–2026 fiscal school year, the Central Registration Center will be located on the CT State Housatonic campus at 900 Lafayette Boulevard. This collaborative effort marks a significant milestone in the district’s ongoing mission to remove barriers to education and invest in family-centered services.

“This new center represents a long-term investment in both our students and our community,” said Dr. Royce Avery, Interim Superintendent of Bridgeport Public Schools. “Since stepping into this role, I’ve focused on building stronger systems of support for our families. Partnering with CT State Housatonic allows us to offer a reliable, accessible space where families can get the guidance and resources, they need to confidently begin their journey with Bridgeport Public Schools.”

The creation of the center was made possible through the generous support of community partners, including the Rotary Club of Bridgeport, whose funding helped make this vision a reality. Their partnership reflects a shared commitment to equity, access, and meaningful support for families across Bridgeport.

“This is about meeting our families where they are,” said Dr. Patricia Benson, CEO of CT State Housatonic. “Working together, we’re building something that belongs to the people of Bridgeport—a space where they can get real support, connect to resources, and begin their child’s educational journey with confidence.”

The Central Registration Center will serve as a one-stop hub for families enrolling in Bridgeport Public Schools, providing support with online registration, student placement, health and transportation referrals, and connections to district services. Staff will also work closely with departments such as Special Education, Multilingual Learners, and Homeless Services to ensure every student is supported from day one.

This effort reflects Bridgeport Public Schools’ broader commitment to equity, family engagement, and operational excellence. By offering centralized, personalized support, the district is making it easier for families to access what they need to succeed—whether it’s a Pre-K seat, kindergarten enrollment, or high school placement.

The Central Registration Center is one more way Bridgeport Public Schools is delivering on its promise: to serve every child, every day—with care, commitment, and connection.
